Breakdown
of prices for private music lessons
For my private music lessons I teach both in home and online lessons.
IN HOME LESSON PRICES
In home lessons are lessons in the comfort of your own home! I will travel to your home to teach. The prices reflect time spent driving as well as prep time (learning songs to teach you, preparing a lesson plan, etc...) Driving to lessons also means that I am unable to schedule as many students as I would be able to in a studio.
These prices include up to an hour of round-trip travel time. For travel over an hour round-trip, I may have to charge an extra travel fee of $10. For reference I live in central St. Boniface, Winnipeg.
DISCOUNTS FOR LESSONS WITHIN 10 MINUTE DRIVE
If you live within a 10 minute drive from me I offer discounts (because it requires less travel time).
If you live in or around the neighbourhood of St. Boniface, you may qualify for this discount!
ONLINE LESSON PRICES
My prices for online lessons reflect set up time and prep time, as well as the lesson itself. They are cheaper because they don't require travel time.
Online music lessons can work very well for those who would prefer not to go to a studio for music lessons, or don't feel comfortable with in-home lessons. I am also able to be much more flexible with scheduling for online lessons, so they can work well if you have a variable schedule.
Online lessons can present some challenges. For example, it can be difficult to hear and see each other. However, I try to make my online lessons as easy and comfortable as possible for my students, using tools such as sending you tracks to play along to, and high quality sound and video.
Scheduling
All the above prices are for a single lesson. Many people do weekly lessons, but I can also book bi-weekly lessons (every other week).
In general I recommend hour long lessons, as I find 30 minute lessons are often too short to really get into a topic.
However, for younger children an hour is often too long for them, at least starting out, so I recommend 30 or 45 minute lessons.
Many adult students find that bi-weekly lessons give them more time to practice in between lessons.
